Wonderful writing

At writing time we are learning to experiment with new types of punctuation. We are starting to read our stories back and check we have fullstops and capital letters in the correct places.

"I have learnt to make bigger stories and I can go over the page! I can do 8 sentences and I can sound them out better now."

I'm on Phonics Fire!

Phonics lessons are a very important part of our Writing programme.

As I get more confident I try tricker things. In this photo I listened to a dictated sentence and then tried to write down what I heard and put in the correct punctuation. 

" I need to remember to do some finger spaces and a full stop next time." 

Owl Babies

We are learning to publish our writing for an audience, because we are authors. In Room 3 we try to present our work in many different and interesting ways to encourage people to come and read our fabulous stories!

"My Owl is so cute and fluffy. I liked the story."

Descriptive Words

We are learning to add interesting language to our story.

In Story Writing we have been brainstorming adjectives (describing words) and trying to use them in our stories to make our work sound more exciting.  Guy Fawkes gave us the opportunity to practise some of these words:

"It is tricky putting describing words into my story", said Macy.

I am learning to use a word card

In Writing we have been learning to use our word card.  It has some words in the colourful boxes and these help us to write our story.  If we need to write a word that isn't on our card we can say the word slowly and write down the sounds we can hear instead.

"I can write the words all by myself", said Macy.

I am learning to form my letters correctly

Everyday in class we practise writing an alphabet letter.  Sometimes writing the letters can be tricky but we are learning to show resilience by continuing to try.  Have a look at the letter "h" that I did all by myself:
